Navigage Foundation – Helping Marin Residents Live Agelessly

“We say ‘ageless’ because we’re trying to take the physical barrier away,” says DeWayne McMullin, Navigage Foundation Executive Director, “and we’re doing it now on a broader canvas.”

Before the 2008 financial crisis, the Navigage Foundation was called California P.E.O. Home and operated retirement communities in Alhambra and San Jose, California. However, after changes in the market forced them to close their campuses, the Board of Directors were determined to continue supporting older adults and emerged with a new strategic plan. In 2015, the Navigage Foundation was born.

“Instead of lending ourselves to just one place with the retirement campuses, now we look at where we can do the most meaningful work,” says Mr. McMullin. “That’s the reason we support organizations like Vivalon.”

According to Mr. McMullin, “The name ‘Navigage’ is the concept of navigating age.” Through a partnership with Vivalon, both organizations are doing just that – providing the tools to help Marin’s older adults navigate their own healthy aging paths.

In 2020, the Navigage Foundation awarded a generous $40,000 to Vivalon’s Meals on Wheels and Nourish programs. Its support helped deliver over 11,000 meals to hundreds of older adults and people living with chronic conditions. In October 2021, the Foundation awarded $91,150 to support Vivalon’s Salesforce implementation, a remarkable gift that will help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of managing the operations that provide critical safety net services for older adults.

“What we’re trying to do is keep people connected,’ says Judy Vallas, Navigage Foundation Board Vice-Chair, “I see Vivalon in the community, and the work it does. Vivalon is a vital part of Marin County.”

Please join us in thanking Jim Rock, Navigage Foundation Board Chair; Judy Vallas, Board Vice-Chair; DeWayne McMullin, Executive Director; and the entire Navigage Foundation team for their support of Marin’s older adults.
